Ark of Fools: Myths and rumors
Armaz-Daka
There was Armaz, a god of all that was good and holy. And there was his
dark twin Daka. Thousands of years ago, the two battled for the soul
of creation. Armaz was the patron of paladins, ruling fire, air, law, and
good. Daka ruled earth, water, chaos, and evil. Entire planes would be
devasted in their wars. This much is known. The rest is speculation, myth,
contradictory theories.
- Armaz saw that in having a war, Daka was winning. Worlds were being
destroyed faster than they could be created. So he spun one final death spell
and bound them both in oblivion.
- Daka swallowed Armaz at the last, but was betrayed by a rival evil god.
Perhaps it was Gruumsh. Perhaps Vecna or Nerull. Or some other now-dead deity.
- Armaz saw that he had become too much like his enemy. In despair at what
he had become, he killed himself, but since the twins shared a single soul,
both of them died.
- Daka exiled Armaz to the astral plane. Now he is slowly digesting him.
Eventually, Daka will rise again, twice as strong as before.
- Armaz sacrificed himself in a final duel with Daka.
- The dead god is Armaz. Daka is still out there, disguised as a demon,
under a new name.
- The dead god is Daka. Armaz lives on, but as successive mortal
incarnations, wherever need is greatest.
- Both still live: Armaz is Heironeous, and Daka is Hextor.
Even though they are dead, Armaz and Daka still have a few worshippers
and clerics. Armaz and Daka are too dead to intervene, but still...
Traditional granted domains (but people don't agree which are authentic):
Armaz: good healing fire air law strength protection
Daka: evil death destruction chaos water earth war
Prophecies
People are constantly finding or making up prophecies about the fate
of the Ark.
- Ashes, ashes, we all fall down Lately, this one has been going
around the children of the villages of Akadazia. "Stone to fire, fire
to water, water to air, ashes, ashes, we all fall down." "Stir them, stir
them, the dead stand up...one...two...three...four..."
- Blood calls to blood across the silver sea. This one is
current in the streets of Face.
- Death, by the dead be undone
